This championship is also supported by WKC, World Karate Confederation.

More information to follow in the next WUKO&AD newsletter.

We hereby inform you that our web domain and e-mail addresses have now changed.

The WKF made yet another opposing claim, this time against to our web domain, which by default included our email addresses. The WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), the agency that decides/ settles disputes of this nature, decided to award our domain to WKF.

This costly error on our part was due to the fact that our provider requested the domain name on behalf of World Union of Karatedo Organization and not the World United Karate Organization & Associated Disciplines.

This decision, as outrageous as it may be, is made and it is final. Therefore all we can do at this stage is to take note, learn from it and keep on moving forward.

Please be advised that our new contact information, effective Friday 26th June 2015 will be as follows:

Master Ronnie Colwell Died

We communicate you with deep sadness and sorrow that Master Ronnie Colwell, 9th Dan, member of Wuko&Ad Commitee of Honour, passed away.

We all express the condolences to his family.

The most important meeting in the history of the sport of karate was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, July 16th – 18th, 2014. After three days of intensive meetings and positive discussion, major International Karate Federations set aside 35 years of differences and formed a unified body, United World Karate (UWK) to represent the activity of karate world-wide.

“It is a dream come true”, said Richard Jorgensen, Chairman of the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF) and newly elected President of United World Karate. “We have spent such a long time trying to achieve unification that it is hard to imagine it has finally happened.”

“By celebrating our diversity and combining our strengths, we have now been able to achieve the expectations of unification as outlined to us by the IOC Judicial Commission and endorsed by the 101st Session of the International Olympic Committee back in 1993”.

“We have faced many disappointments in the past because we were unable to view karate as a diverse sport and martial art. Now, we have created an organization that includes 3 Distinct Competition Disciplines that will provide an open door for millions of athletes around the world to realize their opportunity to attend major recognized International Competitions such as the IOC Continental Games, Sport Accord Combat Games and hopefully, one day, realize their chance to compete in the Olympic Games” Jorgensen said. “Many of our national federation members of the founding organizations already have recognition from sport authorities at the national level including National Olympic Committees so our World Body, United World Karate now collectively represents one of the largest sport activities in the world”.

The unification talks were joined by the Executive Officials from 16 countries representing the seven acknowledged major International & World Governing Bodies of Karate including, International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF), World Karate Confederation (WKC); World Union of Karate-do Federations (WUKF); International Karate Union (IKU); World United Karate Organization (WUKO), International Karate Organization – Kyokushinkaikan (IKOK) and World Fudokan Federation (WFF). These organizations represent more than 110 member countries representing millions of individual karate participants world-wide.

The organization will host the first United World Karate Championships in 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Convention between W.U.K.O. with FESIK and S.K.D.U.N.

An important convention between W.U.K.O. (World United Karate Organization) with FESIK and S.K.D.U.N. (Shotokan Karate Do of United Nations) has been signed to enable the participation to some competitions of the two organisations for 2012. The agreement permits senior athletes FESIK/W.U.K.O. to participate to the S.K.D.U.N. European Championship on the 21st and 22nd April and to the Word Championship in Milan (Bollate) on the 13th and 14th October. S.K.D.U.N. National teams and athletes will participate to the Carlo Henke W.U.K.O. Cup (Rome) and to the W.U.K.O. European Championship (England).

Grand Master Toyama WELCOME

Personally, as President and on behalf of the whole Directing Committee, I express my deepest gratitude and satisfaction for the entry of Master Yutaka Toyama in the Wuko Honour Committee and I give him a big symbolic hug by all our members. The honour of having him among us makes us proud and pushes us to go on the path of Karate-do, undertaken with great technical quality and without compromises. The acceptance by Master Toyama, perhaps the greatest master of Wado Ryu in the world, confirms his choice of all Wuko, beyond political fights, in the only possible way, the way of the research of the intrinsic values in the beautiful martial art of Karate, in balance with the contexts and the times we live every day. Grand Master Toyama Welcome

Benvenuto Grand Master Toyama

Benvenuto Grand Master Toyama!
